Lullabies is Maiden Radio’s 2nd album, and the first ever release by Ol Kentuck (which makes it very, very special to us). It’s a collection of recordings made by the band for Maya Adele, the daughter of Julia Purcell, who is 1/3 of Maiden Radio along with Cheyenne Marie Mize & Joan Shelley. A few months after the successful release of their first, self-titled album in 2010, the Ladies Maiden came together in Cheyenne’s attic to make these quiet, soothing songs that would help the soon-to-be-born baby fall fast asleep. The 8 songs range from classic lullabies that parents have been singing to their children for centuries, such as the breath-taking album closer, “Hush Thee My Rowan,” to beautiful takes on newer songs, such as Gillian Welch’s, “Dear Someone.”
